COMMUNITY SERVICES & CONNECTIONS TEAM – Has raised nearly $600 in support of victims of Hurricane Dorian. The Community Connections Team’s focus for the 2029-2020 chapter year was not only to support local charitable organizations, but to also become more involved with the organizations that serve local communities and to seek exposure to those outstanding organizations and their causes. With that in mind, the Team conducted a clothing drive at the Winter Party held on January 23rd at LAVO followed by an evening charity event celebrating Black History Month on February 25th at The Maxwell Hotel Ballroom. The evening featured a live performance by Bessie Award Winning Asase Yaa African American Dance Group. We would like to thank our members and business partners for your kindness and recognize that your generosity and participation made the Chapter’s involvement and charitable efforts successful and meaningful!

ALANYC CORE MENTORSHIP TEAM – The CORE Mentorship program started in the 2018-2019 Chapter year and is continuing with the same energy and excitement this chapter year. The CORE Team seeks to finalize a relationship with Promise Academy II High School in Harlem, NY that we expect will be embedded within the chapter for years to come and will engage both members and Business Partners in a meaningful way. CORE is a 3-Phase mentorship training program that we intend to culminate with a closing ceremony on or about the end of the Chapter year.
Please watch your inboxes for more details about the program and a call for volunteer instructors for all three phases. Want more information, contact us at info@nyc.org.

ANNUAL EVENTS & NETWORKING TEAM – On behalf of my team, I am happy to report that attendance at events has increased and members are engaged more than ever before in part to our creative speakers and hot topics covered. Recent events included the C-Suite panel luncheon held in September at Manhattan Manor’s, The Skylight Room. Here, members heard from a panel of our very own C-Suite members, Rosemarie Sturtevant, Denise Harris, Randy Becker, and Donatella Verrico with Michael Leonardi, as moderator. The Panel discussed steps taken by them to acquire their C-Suite position. Panelist and members also discussed areas to consider from networking to working with a recruiter and what to address with them. Many thanks to all who took part in sharing their professional insights and journey.
In October, we held an educational lunch session on social media. The event was sponsored by our Business Partner, The Kimberly Hotel. The luncheon was held at its’ Empire Steak House with an energizing guest speaker, Stephanie Marrone, Social Media Guru. The team was successful in planning the Winter Party and have recently finalized plans for our crème de la crème, Managing Partner Luncheon! We are on a roll! This is great work and fun at the same time. Thank you to everyone on the Events Team who helped with nametag preparation (an event in and of itself!), menu planning, promoting and participation at our Chapter’s event.
Look for new venues and ideas moving forward in 2020!
