Message from ALA NYC President Nellie Lefteratos

Happy 40th Anniversary ALANYC
January 1977 to January 2017

Can you believe that the Chapter is 40 years old and still going strong? What a milestone! It’s moments like these that I become nostalgic. Throwback to 1977– where was I? I was in college, thinking about what I wanted to do with my life, singing with a band on the weekends, participating in hustle competitions with my partner, Rocco and hanging out at Studio 54. Fast forward to 2017 – where am I? An Office Administrator at an NYC law firm and the Chapter’s President. Still singing in my office and dancing down the hall. Nothing much has changed, except the band is gone and Rocco is nowhere to be found. Otherwise, life is good!

To celebrate the Chapter’s milestone, we hosted a 70’s theme party on January 25, at the NY Palace, 455 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 1002. Members and business partners broke out their bell bottoms, go-go boots, and disco dresses and we celebrated like it was 1977! We had a wonderful evening hustling through time…

On December 6, 2016, we held an educational session entitled Leadership and You. Our very own Rick D’Aversa presented the session. In this session, attendees got a greater understanding of what true leadership is; learned about new and user-friendly Performance Plan and Evaluation forms; learned about a Development Plan to guide future leaders of their firms; understood the benefits and use of an Improvement Plan; and, reviewed how to keep their day less stressful and in better control with the ͞Daily Examen͟.
