Paralegal (Real Estate) – Hybrid Opportunity

THE OPPORTUNITY:

As a real estate paralegal, you will assist attorneys in all aspects of commercial and residential real estate transactions, including documentation, due diligence, closing and post-closing activities for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. You will be a member of the firm’s Real Estate department, reporting to the attorneys on your team. 

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

On any given day, you will:

  • Order and review title commitments, exception documents and surveys, interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues or discrepancies; negotiate title policies, endorsements, surveys and zoning reports.
  • Prepare and administer contract critical dates and closing checklists.
  • Coordinate and assist with all aspects of closings, including preparation of conveyance documents, closing statements, and other closing documents.
  • Format documents for recording requirements, including signature and notary blocks.
  • Handle closings for Condo/Co-op properties; transfers of properties held in trusts.
  • Attend all post-closing requirements, which will require you to prepare closing indices, prepare and organize closing binders, and monitor all post-closing deliveries and requirements
  • Perform entity formation and dissolution.
  • Prepare clear and concise correspondence and memorandum
  • Prepare initial draft document, amendments to agreements or leases and miscellaneous documents, including estoppel certificates, SNDAs and Memos of Lease for attorney review.
  • Review organizational and authority documents
  • Order UCC Lien and other searches
  • Transactional experience a plus

YOU HAVE:

  • 6-10 years of experience in commercial real estate transactions, including experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing. Experience working with transactional teams.
  • Law firm and in-house experience will be considered
  • Significant New York specific title and survey experience, including review of title commitments and surveys, review and analysis of easements, declarations, REA’s and other exception documents, and preparation and negotiation of title objection letters
  • A Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook or similar mail. calendar technology.
  • Legal research skills and knowledge of relevant databases
  • Strong writing, organizational and communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and legal terminology

The salary range for this role is $87,000-$130,000 annually, which is based on a 40 hour work week. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. This job is also eligible for an annual merit increase and bonus pay.
